Canadian Punk legends Ripcordz return with their thirteenth album -- and it looks like a lucky number for all of us. The band keeps it's signature distortion on the guitars (and voice), but stirs in a little more rock 'n roll this time around. There are some straight-ahead punk anthems like Norm Next Door and I Am Canadian. But the band also includes the celtic-influenced Six Shooter (dedicated to the lovely bartenders at Toronto's Bovine bar). And let's not forget the tribute to their favourite prairie town, Gotta Get Out Of Humboldt, which sounds a little like Bruce Springsteen put through a Cuisinart (not a bad image when you think about it). "Softening the edges?" "Not bloody likely!" cries the band, who are fortunately a little too inebriated to start a fight (or start the van) this day...

The Ripcordz haven’t been around forever -- it just seems that way.

Formed in 1980. Since then, they’ve released a dozen full-length albums, gone on 13 cross-Canada tours and played well over two thousand shows (they stopped counting a while back).

The sound includes a mix of rock ‘n roll, hardcore, Punk and pop (mostly Punk, we’d say). They like to describe it as a glob of distortion that bursts out of your speakers and soils the rug so your parents have to clean it up. (The band likes to say that, but the record company wishes they would stop…)
